Jekyll & Hyde

On Friday, Mac and I went to this great place where there are lots of fun inflatable bouncy things that the kids can do with another friend and her mom. I don't know if he was over stimulated or what, but it was not as fun as it could have been. We ran a few errands before we went and he was totally fine. Right when we walked in the door, a man tried to put a paper bracelet on him (and one on me), and he immediately lost it. He was crying loudly and hanging all over me. I finally got him to calm down and put it on his ankle. As soon as he saw all of the bouncy things, he was excited and ready to try them out. There was a BIG slide. I had to go down it a few times with him. The first two times, when we got to the top he started crying and clinging to me as that same man was helping the kids at the top. Thankfully he calmed down after that and then when he saw his friend going by herself, he decided he could go by himself as well (much to my relief).

To get to the main point of my story, we go into a second room of bouncy things and there are lots of balls. He decides that he really really likes a big orange ball and is carrying it all around. I help him into one of the things and he lets the ball go. Another little girl decides to pick it up. He runs/bounces over to her, says, "it's my ball!" and proceeds to tackle her with his arm around her neck and then rolls on top of her. I'm absolutely embarassed and appalled that he would do such a thing. I immediately jump in, pull him off of her, take him to the restroom, pop his behind and give him a tongue lashing. I then made him go back into the room and apologize as I profusely apologize to her dad (I've met her mom a few times before and met her dad for the first time that day).

Needless to say, Michael found it a bit entertaining saying, "He's a boy." I still can barely laugh about it.

The next day, we head to a neighboring town to get furniture for the baby and Mac was great all morning. He got to play at the park, he entertained himself for the whole hour we were in the baby store (they had a few toys and a movie on), we then went to lunch and he did well there, too. I think the only reason he ate well was because we bribed him with ice cream. I'm not ashamed as we'll do whatever works!

I tell you what, I never know what to expect from him anymore!?! One day he is great, the next I wonder who or what has possessed him.

Lauren, the fun begins! I LOVE this story, and can SO relate! Even to the part about Michael thinking it's cool! And to think 2 of those boys! But hey, the Lord must have known we could handle them... it is so true that you just never know WHAT to expect.. I have said to myself so many times... I'm never taking Jayce with me to the store again, or a restaraunt... etc.... and then we try again and he's ok, and then again and not so good... you just don't know...Jekyll and Hyde is an appropriate title!
