Nutrition Update
In a previous post I mentioned how I couldn't get in to see the dietitian for Gavin until November 8th. I was put on the cancellation list. I called the dietitian this past Monday and she assured me that the cancellation list worked well and that she'd plan on seeing me in the next week or two. She was right! We had an appointment with her today, Wednesday, September 1st. I met with her for almost 1 1/2 hours! Here's our plan. I will be morphing into SuperMom by sometime next week (when my ordered cookbooks arrive) and here's what will be eliminated from Gavin's diet: corn, rice, eggs, peanuts, peas, cantaloupe, barley, rye, milk, soy, sunflower, green beans, and pork. I will try this for 4-6 weeks. If I note good improvements, then he will have another scope, if not, then he has to go on the elemental diet (formula only) and then be scoped after 4-6 weeks of that. If we do have to go the elemental diet route, and after the scope, we can reintroduce solids to him, one food at a time and only one food per week, going no longer than 4 weeks before another scope. This will certainly be a LONG road.
