More on Gavin

First, Gavin gave up (or rather, mommy took away) his pacifier November 30th. He was exactly 2 1/2 years old, so the parents decided it was time to go. He wasn't very happy for about 2 days, we had a few behavioral issues, but after that, it was as though he never had one.

Second, Gavin had another skin prick test with his second allergist. The poor baby was pricked 82 times. Needless to say, it was not fun for him or for mom. The results showed positive allergies to walnuts, peas, peanuts, buckwheat and cauliflower. Peas and peanuts also showed up on his original skin test. What gets me is that when he eats corn meal, he vomits. So why didn't corn show up positive? It did on the first test. Basically what we gained from this is that allergy testing is NOT reliable for him and we keep a detailed food diary to figure out what he cannot have. So far, he cannot have peas, peanuts, corn, bananas, and pork.

Third, Gavinisims:
  • Gavin has decided that maybe he really does like daddy and not just mommy. The other night he said, "Daddy put me to bed. Daddy not yucky! Daddy not yuckiness!"
  • I try to keep my cool when driving with the kids in the car. A driver cut me off and I said, "That was not a smart thing to do." Gavin responded back with, "Stupid people!" I had to keep my laughter in because, yes, he was right, but we don't say those things.
