Skin Patch Testing

Tuesday morning Gavin had to see his allergist for more food allergy testing due to his EE. The poor baby was pricked 25 times on his right arm, 6 times on his left arm and now has 23 patches on his back. They are metal circles about the size of dimes with food on them and then bandaged to his back. They don't hurt or itch. Thankfully, they have not bothered him at all. They gave us extra tape and he decided he wanted to put several pieces on his legs, until I took it away from him. We go back Thursday morning to have them removed, which they say is the worst part because of all the tape. We will then return on Friday for the results as the redness from the tape needs to settle to more accurately read the results from where the patches were.

Not all allergists perform skin patch testing and not all of them believe in it, but we really like our allergist and will do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of his EE.
I figure there will be more foods we have to take out of his diet, so I went ahead and set up an appointment with the nutritionist at his Ped GI office, we can't get in until November 8th. You've got to be kidding me! Thankfully, the lady on the phone told me how to push the line and most likely get in sooner. Needless to say, I can be real pushy when it comes to my kids and their health and I'll keep you posted on his appointment date.

Obviously you and Gavin are being given extra patience to get through this. By now Evan would have removed every piece of tape and test and attached them to the dog.

My doctor put me on an elimination diet for some medical problems i was having and I couldn't make it through one meal - you two are amazing!
